CEDAR RAPIDS — The League of Women Voters of Linn County has set a series of candidate forums for state legislative and county races ahead of the November election. All the forums run from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Here’s the list of the forums now scheduled:

Do you care about upholding the Iowa Constitution?

The American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa is dedicated to upholding the Constitution. Each year, they rate elected officials based on the official’s votes based on adherence to legislation related to civil liberties.

The latest rating for Iowa House Rep. Renee Schulte is “F” — 25 percent. When Art Staed was representative, his rating was 88 percent.

A one-term state representative from northeast Cedar Rapids has announced plans to make another run for the Iowa House.

Democrat Art Staed, 62, a teacher and businessman, will challenge Rep. Renee Schulte, R-Cedar Rapids. Schulte defeated Staed by 13 votes in 2008 and was re-elected in 2010.
