With just 70 days to go until Election Day, our schedule has ramped up considerably (didn’t think that was possible!).  Today’s routine was an example of this new pace.

Tonight’s issue was mine- food!  It seems like every door we knocked, we interrupted a meal in progress.

The neighborhood where we are now door-knocking is centered around a school.  It’s been fun to see all of the children outside- riding bicycles, playing catch, skate boarding.

Art and I went door knocking this evening as usual, after riding bikes with Sen. Rob Hogg on his annual Bike Across The District event.

On the campaign trail today, we met up with Jeff (name changed), a Vietnam Vet.  Some days, door-knocking is an emotional drain, and this was one of ’em.

Thank you for the kind comments on yesterday’s post!   It’s been a rather stressful week; Art and I certainly appreciate your support more than ever.

Art received confirmation of another “push poll” call a supporter received.  This one is particularly offensive; the caller asks of the voter, “Did you know Art’s ex-wife says he abandoned his daughter because of politics?”

Oh, boy.   The beginning of our door-knocking excursion tonight was terrific.  The weather was cooler,  the grass greener, and people were in super spirits and excited about meeting Art.

Yesterday’s door-knocking brought us to another apartment complex in town.   Anyone (me) who’s ever complained about the lack of ethnic diversity in Iowa, is obviously not living in the right neighborhoods.

With only six homes left to visit in the current precinct we’re walking, the rain finally sent us scurrying back to the ArtStaedMobile.  Art decided it was better to get elected rather than electrocuted.
