Had a good time d-k tonight with Art , it was another scorcher weather-wise, but we met some terrific neighbors and had many good conversations.  Had I FaceBooked last night, it would have been from a slightly different perspective.

Yesterday evening, Art and I were just not in sync, occasionally interrupting each other and not working in tandem as we usually do at the doors.  To top that off, we had an odd encounter with a voter who declared he was for the opposition.  Now, this happens from time to time, but this particular guy gave us a brief history of his bizarre voting habits, including the last presidential race when he voted for the Communist Party candidate!

But that was yesterday. Today- a new day, new doors, and renewed energy.  We ran into yet another postal carrier, Jess (name changed), who had seen Art numerous times door-knocking this summer.  Jess actually flagged us down to say that Art’s work in this extreme heat was incredibly commendable and he was definitely voting for him!

We also met Olive, an oh-so-sweet retiree originally from Estonia.  She expressed astonishment, though, at the amount of money spent already this year in national campaign advertising.  Her belief (and ours) is that the money could be better put to use elsewhere.   We had a nice chat and before we left, I added to my odd collection of foreign language thank-you’s:  “tanan” to Olive for her support of Art!

We also met Jan (another supporter!) and for her I had an odd request.  I wanted to snap a picture of the short rail attached to the side wall of her garage.  We too, have a steep step onto our front porch and I think a similar design would work perfectly. She was happy to oblige, and now I have the beginnings of another project lined up!
