Tonight’s issue was mine- food!  It seems like every door we knocked, we interrupted a meal in progress.

It was excruciatingly painful on my hungry tummy to go to a new home, only to smell yummy BBQ being grilled on the back deck…..another home had  some exotic and Mid-Eastern aromas emanating from the open front windows…..at yet another stop, we smelled garlic and onions being sautéed on the stove.  The worst was when George (name changed) brought his plate of tempting lasagna with him right outside on the front stoop to visit with us! Kid’s come to the doors wearing their food:  white milk mustaches, spaghetti-red faces, and BBQ stains down their shirt fronts.   When we got home, I practically scarfed down dinner, in my haste to quell a grumbling belly.

Speaking of food, not everybody is as fortunate to eat three well-prepared meals a day.  Art has received reports that there is an increased demand from the food banks here in Linn County, and the food supplies for needy families are getting low.  Art and I are planning an event in September to gather canned goods and contributions to give to area food banks.  Details to come soon!
