STAED TO GOVERNOR: LET’S WORK TOGETHER

Des Moines, Iowa – Governor Branstad gave his Condition of the State address today at the State Capitol today and State Representative Art Staed of Cedar Rapids said lawmakers are ready to work together to build a strong middle class, support Iowa education, adequately fund our mental health and health care systems, repair and maintain our roads and bridges, and protect our natural resources.

“If we stay focused on the middle class, we can approve some common sense solutions and give Iowans more economic security. I was pleased to hear the Governor talk about issues like renewable energy, keeping tuition affordable, and connecting more homes and businesses in rural Iowa to broadband technology,” said Staed.

Rep. Staed said other issues with bi-partisan support this year include expanding support for veterans and military families, creating good family-sustaining jobs, increasing apprenticeships to build Iowa’s skilled workforce, protecting kids from bullying, and keeping state government running efficiently to maintain Iowa’s balanced budget and strong surplus.
