In our country, voting is not just a privilege, it is a constitutionally guaranteed right for all citizens. Art Staed believes this.

His incumbent opponent in House District 66, Renee Schulte, has been a leader in the House rallying support to make it mandatory for all voters to show a photo ID. This despite the fact that there are no proven cases of voter ID fraud in Iowa, and very few anywhere else in the country.

This is a thrust in states where there are Republican governors. Impartial studies have shown that these laws will disenfranchise about 9 percent of the voting population, people who are elderly, poor, disabled, students or minorities who do not drive automobiles, people who are in demographics that tend to vote Democrat.

Elections should be won on the basis of votes cast, not on the basis of votes blocked. A vote for Staed will be a vote for open elections for all.
